Our journey

From automation engine to one application layer

Eight years of model-driven tooling — each step widening what one shared model can do.

2018

SmartEngine grows up

The product line moves from early automation to a Data Vault 2.0 generation approach — the architectural direction everything since has built on.

2020

Rebuilt from the ground up

A completely re-written architecture with a new Data Vault 2.0 object model — hubs, satellites, links — and model-based mappings that generate the business layer. K# becomes D♯.

2021

DSharp Oy is born

The D♯ product business becomes an independent company, focused on automation tools for scalable, sustainable data delivery.

2022

SmartEngine becomes D♯ Engine

Version 3.0 opens multi-platform support — PostgreSQL first — and adds automated, model-based business model implementation.

2023

Into the cloud

D♯ Engine 4.0 brings Microsoft Synapse Analytics support — and the first technology preview of AI-assisted, natural-language input.

2024

DSharp Studio 5.0

All-in-one modeling and no-code data warehouse automation: Design and Run modes, Git-based collaboration, and Microsoft Fabric as a target platform.

2025

Beyond warehouse generation

Sandbox models, AI-generated base models from business cases, and a Data Catalog spanning infrastructure, integrations, and reporting.

2026 · today

One application layer

Studio 6.0 ships. Pathfinder and Studio come together as one application layer — from business need and raw source to answers everyone trusts.

What we value

Principles behind DSharp

Model matters the most

Not always the first step — but always the one that counts. Get the structure and meaning right and the rest follows, cleanly and repeatably, at scale.

Trust by design

Governance and lineage aren't bolted on. Every answer can be traced back to the definition that produced it.

Everyone who depends on data

From engineers to leadership, we design for the whole chain — not just the people writing the queries.

Open by default

We generate standard dbt and work with the tools teams already run. No lock-in, no black boxes.
