The City of Turku expanded its data warehouse to include library data — a step toward combining datasets across the city, on the city's own terms.
The challenge
Library data sat apart from the rest of the city's reporting. To make it useful for decision-making, it needed to live in the same trusted data warehouse as everything else — without handing control of what gets combined to a black box.What they did with DSharp
Turku brought library data into its shared model, so it's defined and governed the same way as the city's other datasets. Because the model is the city's own, they decide what is used and combined, and how.We wanted to take control of our data — to decide what we use and combine in reporting. The outcome
