D♯ Engine has been updated. The new release introduces administrative enhancements, but from a development standpoint everything else works the same as in version 4.1.

Windows Installer
The installation process has been greatly simplified. The installation program allows you to either upgrade an existing installation or install the new version alongside previous versions, enabling client and project specific versions of D♯ Engine.

License Server
All licenses are now stored on and retrieved from our new License Server, which streamlines the handling of licenses. Moving licenses between developers now only requires changing the licensee on the server, no more copying license files!

DSharp core team

We are hosting a Community Day on Wednesday, May 10th from 3pm to 5pm at our office in Turku. The event is open to D♯ Engine users and partners.

The Community Day will feature a presentation by Senior Data Platform Expert Johanna Tuominen from Netum. She will take the attendees on a journey through the history of Monetra Oy’s DW solution. Tuominen will cover the development of the DW solution from the earliest days of D♯ SmartEngine to the latest developments, with a focus on rare use cases and the twists and turns of a long development process.

In addition to the presentation, DSharp will open up community opportunities and listen to partner thoughts, with the goal of initiating collaborative action. There will also be a surprise performance that is sure to delight attendees.

The event will take place at DSharp’s office in Regus Turku, located at Yliopistonkatu 31, 3rd floor. Following the official program, attendees are invited to stay for casual conversation and networking for the rest of the evening.

The Community Day promises to be an exciting opportunity for D♯ Engine users and partners to come together, learn about the latest developments and discuss new opportunities for collaboration.

(If you wish to attend and haven’t gotten an invitation please write an email to konsta.weber@dsharp.fi by April 30th.)

Streamlining Data Management and Enhancing User Experience

We are excited to announce the release of the latest update to our D♯ Engine. This update introduces a range of new features and fixes to existing issues, ensuring an enhanced user experience for those working with the D♯ Engine.

Prioritized Attribute Value Selection
In this update, we’ve added the ability to prioritize the data sources for a class or an attribute when building the class view. This feature makes it possible to prioritize more trusted data sources over less trusted ones to publish the data most accurately in the class view.

Efficient Loading of Latest Data Versions
We now offer support for loading only the newest version from a data set containing multiple versions of the same entity. This feature streamlines the loading process, saving time and enhancing overall efficiency in working with data. Also, the view layer in general is now more efficient.

AI-based Natural Language Input (Technology Preview)
We are also introducing a technology preview of AI-based natural language input in the data grid. This much-anticipated feature promises to make querying data faster and more intuitive, transforming the way you interact with your data and improving data management capabilities.

Improved Source Data Mapping and Hashing
Our update includes significant improvements in analysis of the source data mappings. We’ve optimized the hashing mechanism, leading to more efficient loads by minimizing the number of left-joins during hashing.

User Interface Enhancements
We’ve implemented several UI changes and additions, such as a new hierarchical menu for each class, allowing you to quickly generate massive association-based SQL joins with just one click. The deployment package now includes recommendations on how to finalize the deployment manually if needed. Furthermore, we’ve resolved existing issues, including a soft delete issue in cases where a hubless class was marked for soft delete.

Upgrade to the Latest D♯ Engine Update Today
In summary, the latest update of our D♯ Engine offers a variety of new features and fixes that will significantly improve the user experience. We encourage all D♯ Engine users to upgrade to this latest version and take advantage of these valuable improvements in data management and overall user experience.

DSharp Engine Version 4.0 released

We are excited to announce the latest version of our D♯ Engine, version 4.0. With this new release, we have added some major new features that will take the tool’s capabilities to the next level.

One of the most significant new features in version 4.0 is the support for Microsoft Synapse Analytics. Specifically, our tool automatically handles table distribution and selects the best indexing model for each table using the exact same metadata our users have been using for years. This integration provides a seamless experience for users who want to utilize Microsoft Synapse Analytics, making it easy to access and analyze their data in the cloud. Synapse works extremely well with large data masses, so bigger organizations will welcome this new possibility.

In addition to the Microsoft Synapse Analytics support, version 4.0 also includes extended source data mapping functionality. This allows users to easily map their data from various sources in a more flexible way than before. For example, the users can now map several source tables within the same schema to the same class, split denormalized data to several classes and map the same source column to multiple attributes. This enhancement greatly simplifies the development process and data integration, further streamlining the development process by replacing yet more manual work with automation.

Another important feature of version 4.0 is the ability to generate partial solutions if parts of the model fail validation. You can restart the Data Vault generation process even though some classes have failed verification. The failed classes will internally be marked as non-implementable before starting the process. This allows users to continue working with the deployment, even if another part of the model contains errors.

We are confident that these new features will greatly benefit our users and help them extend the use of the D♯ Engine. If you’re interested in trying out D♯ Engine version 4.0, contact us and we’ll set up a meeting.

We appreciate the support of our users, and we look forward to continuing to improve D♯ Engine.
